In May/June 2023 we investigated Wozniak Poultry Farms, the biggest egg producer in Poland and the European Union. Two of our activists were employed at the farm in the village of Wioska in Poland.
Dear Wozniak Group’s representatives,
Photos and videos published in September 2023 from the Wozniak Poultry Farms in Wioska have revealed the suffering of laying hens in cage systems. Images of feather pecking and cannibalism among hens, untreated injuries, and animals dying without veterinary care were documented on the farm.
As the biggest egg producer in Poland and the European Union, Wozniak Group not only has a huge responsibility towards consumers but also a significant influence on the rest of the industry. Your practices become a model for other producers, affecting the standards of the entire market. Your decisions impact the fate of millions of animals.
In light of the shocking images of animal suffering on your farm and the growing public opposition to the use of cages in animal farming, I appeal to you to take steps to improve the welfare of laying hens on Wozniak Group and to issue an official, public committment to move away from the production and distribution of cage eggs by 2027. This change requires time, investment, and adaptation to new standards. Nonetheless, as industry leaders, you are in a position to meet these expectations.
